Podcasters Nominated for the 2025 Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards

The Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards are back for 2025, and this year’s nominations are marked by a number of podcasters on the comedy scene. Several talented comedians who have made their mark in podcasting are now vying for top honours at this prestigious ceremony. Now in its 12th year, the Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards is Africa’s biggest comedy awards, celebrating comedians and comedic content.

Let’s take a look at some of this year’s podcasters who’ve received nominations:

1. Khabane Moloi – Breakthrough Act of The Year Award

Khabane Moloi, known for his hilarious observations and natural comedic timing, is co-host of the podcast @its_a_brother_and_sister. His ability to bring humour and authenticity to every episode has earned him a spot as a nominee for the Breakthrough Act of The Year Award.

2. Danielle Du Plessis – Savanna Newcomer Award

Danielle Du Plessis, co-host of the podcast @sitting.pod, is making waves as a fresh voice in comedy. Her sharp wit and down-to-earth humor have quickly made her a favorite among listeners, and her nomination for the Savanna Newcomer Award is a testament to her rising star. 

3. Tshireletso Phasha – Joe Mafela Award

Tshireletso Phasha, co-host of @censored_ishpodcast, is nominated for the Joe Mafela Award, which honours outstanding South African talent. With a podcast that blends humour and social commentary, Tshireletso has carved out a unique space in the comedy scene. 

4. Mpho Popps – Best Comedy Festival or Comedy Show Award

Known for his energetic performances, Mpho Popps has been a favourite in the South African comedy scene for years. But it’s his podcast @podcast_pnc that has helped propel his comedy to new heights. Nominated for the Best Comedy Festival or Comedy Show Award, Mpho continues to push boundaries in both live performances and his podcast.

5. Tsitsi Chiumya – Headliner of The Year Award

As a co-host of @podcast_pnc, Tsitsi Chiumya has earned a reputation as one of the funniest voices in the game. His nomination for the Headliner of The Year Award speaks volumes about his unique style and impact on the comedy world.
