1. The Thumb Stopper Podcast Returns
The DSTV Content Creator Awards have announced that the Thumb Stopper Podcast is returning for its second season!
Sit down for some fun conversations with some of your favourite South African content creators as we count down the days to the Content Creator Awards.
The Thumb Stopping Podcast premieres on Wednesday, October 2nd with plenty more episodes to come.
And don’t forget that the award ceremony will be taking place on Saturday, October 12th.
2. APVA Award winners
The African Podcast and Voice Awards took place on the 27th & 28th of September and various podcasts and podcasters were awarded!
The award show aims to celebrate African excellence within the podcast and voice industries.
Some of this year’s winners are:
- The Tribe UG Podcast, which won in the Arts and Culture category.
- Becoming The Product, which won in the Career and Entrepreneurship category.
- The Expansive Podcast, which received the Podcast of The Year award.

3. Africa Choice Awards Announce 2024 Nominees
The 6th Annual Africa Choice Awards are coming up and the nominees for this year’s ceremony have been announced.
The Africa Choice Awards are a ‘celebration of entertainment and TV talent behind and in front of the cameras.’

4. Top16 YOBA is searching for Podcast host
The Top16 YOBA is a platform dedicated to celebrating South Africa’s youth of today that have established their own brands and continue to build it to bigger and better heights every single day.
The Top16 YOBA have now announced that they will be launching a podcast and are on the hunt for a podcast host.
To be part of the presenter search, you need to:
- Follow the Top16 YOBA on all social media platforms
- Tag someone you think could be a host
- Upload a 30-second intro video with the necessary tags and hashtags.

5. Nominees For 3rd Annual Signal Awards Have Been Announced
The 3rd Annual Signal Awards are coming up and the nominees for this year’s ceremony have been announced.
The Signal Awards are a celebration of podcasts and podcasters from around the world who have contributed plenty to the podcasting industry.
A few nominated podcasts are:
- Moriarty: The Silent Order in 2 categories.
- Ominous Thrill in 5 categories.
- Podcast P with Paul George in 3 categories.
