1 – Mail & Guardian announces 200 Young South Africans of 2024

Mail and Guardian recently released their annual list of 200 Young South Africans that are bringing about positive change to the South African economy. Amongst the 200 is Lungelo Mdletshe, an entrepreneur and host of the Engineer Your Life podcast as well as Robot Boii, artist, dancer, social media personality and co-host of the Popcorn and Cheese podcast.

2- Autumn admissions for The Podcast Academy mentorship programme is open

After a successful spring run of The Podcast Academy mentorship programme, the  programme is now back with its Fall (Autumn) admissions. If you are a podcaster looking to grow your podcast, gain more skills and insight, or want to get a foot in the door, this 4-month programme will help you achieve just that. Applications close on July 19th.

3 – Voting lines are open for the Shining Stars Africa Awards

The annual Shining Stars Africa Awards are fast approaching and voting lines are open. Consisting of 40+ different categories, including the Best Star Podcast of The Year award, these awards aim to celebrate African excellence in numerous different industries. Voting closes on July 16 and the award ceremony will take place on August 3rd.

4 – Join the Podcast Creation Challenge

Excelerate is hosting a podcast challenge called the ‘Podcast Creation Challenge: Ignite the Airwaves. Participants are tasked with creating and producing a teaser episode for their podcast following the theme “Tech Trends and Audio Tales”. There is a prize to be won and the last date to apply is the 14th of July, 2024.

5 – Nominations for the Africa Choice Awards are open

The 6th Annual Africa Choice Awards are in full swing and nominations are now open. The awards aim to celebrate African talent within the entertainment and TV industry both in front and behind the cameras. This is the perfect opportunity to nominate either yourself or your favourite podcaster that is taking the social media world by a storm. Nominations close on the 3rd of August, 2024.
