1. ‘Awkward Dates Gets Nominated For A SAFTA

The Annual South African Film & Television Awards are coming up and the nominees for this year have been announced!

The awards aim to celebrate the best film and television talent and Content that South Africa has to offer.

Amongst the nominees for this year is Awkward Dates, a YouTube show and podcast hosted by Lasiswe Dambuza, which has been nominated for Best Online Content.

Congratulations to Lasizwe and the rest of the incredible nominees. We can’t wait to see who the winners are!

2. RØDE Introduces ‘Creator of The Year Awards’

RØDE has announced that it is introducing the Creator of The Year Awards, where they will crown 44 winners across 22 categories. 

All you need to do is submit your channel and you will be in the running for the amazing prizes and titles to be won!

All the necessary information about the awards and the different categories are available on the RØDE website and submissions close on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024.

3. Blueberry Africa Hosts Podcast Workshop

Blueberry Africa recently celebrated its 4th anniversary, and in the spirit of celebration, they are hosting a Podcast Workshop.

The workshop will focus mainly on the business side of podcasting and ‘empower podcasters with the skills [you] need to launch and grow [your] podcast.’

The workshop will kickstart in London on the 16th-20th of October, before making its way  down to Cape Town on the 15th of October and finally landing in Pretoria on the 17th of October, 2024.

4. Nominations For The Zikomo Africa Awards are Open

The Zikomo Africa Awards are back and nominations for this year’s award ceremony are now open!

The Zikomo Awards is an international awards ceremony that aims to celebrate ‘individuals and organisations positively and doing well in various industries.

You now have the chance to nominate your favourite individuals and organisations in various categories, such as:

  • Best Zikomo TV/Radio Station of The Year
  • Best Zikomo Content Creator/Podcast of The Year
  • Best Zikomo Rising Star of The Year

Nominations open on the 16th of September 2024 and head over to the Zikomo Awards website for more information.

5. Webby Awards Introduces New Award Categories

Entries for The 29th Annual Webby Awards are now open and together with that came the announcement of the induction of the Webby Awards Creators Suite.

The Creators Suite aims to recognise a new generation of content creators through new award categories in content creation, film and television, and Brand of The Year.

We are definitely excited which new creatives get the recognition and appreciation they deserve through these new categories.

Early bird entries close on Friday, October 25th, so head over to The Webby website for more information about the different categories and to cast your entry today!
